Multi-step skincare routines are on the rise and MBK has you covered. While our cleansers are formulated to be effective solo, they are also designed to provide you with options. So, there’s no need to switch skincare products if you want to double cleanse. Here’s everything you need to know.
Why Double Cleanse?
Double cleansing only adds an extra minute or two to your daily routine. The first step is to cleanse with an oil-based cleanser that will dissolve the makeup, skincare products, and sweat left on your skin. You can use an organic olive oil for this step, but if you don’t like the heavy feel of oil find a creamy cleanser such as our Ultra Gentle Cleansing Milk. The second step is to use a foaming cleanser for a deeper clean to penetrate your pores.
Should Everyone Double Cleanse?
As long as you are using gentle cleansers, 2-step cleansing is safe for everyone. It’s even safe for sensitive skin and can be effective for minimizing both oil and acne. However, if you don’t wear a lot of makeup and your skin is not particularly oily, it may not be of benefit. While it certainly won’t harm makeup-free skin, a solo cleanser will effectively cleanse your pores since there isn’t a makeup layer to remove first.
How Often Should I Double Cleanse?
This is entirely up to you. If you don’t wear makeup often you can double cleanse on days when you wear makeup, have layered on a heavy sunscreen, or are oily and sweaty. If you wear makeup daily you can double cleanse in both the morning and evening, or just in the evening to ensure you remove all the makeup, oil, and grime from the day.
Can I Use My Cleansing Brush?
Yes! If you have the Volero Cleansing Brush you can apply the Foaming Cleansing Cream directly to the brush to gently exfoliate during the second step of cleansing. Use the larger silicone bristles for average or regular skin and the smaller bristles for sensitive skin. There are two speeds to choose from, so select what feels comfortable to you. There is no need to apply a lot of pressure as the bristles do the work.
There are several silicone cleansing brushes to choose from, but the ergonomic handle on the MBK Skincare design is a favorite for both estheticians and at-home users. Simply massage your entire face, neck, and décolletage in small circles for 2 to 3 minutes. You may be a little red afterward but it’s just the brush bringing the blood flow to the surface. The redness will fade away in a few minutes. Use your brush 2 or 3 times a week. In addition to cleansing, the vibration feels really good.
Post Cleansing Routine
As always, follow up with a skin-specific toner, serum, moisturizer, and eye cream. Your toner will rebalance your skin, the serum will nourish, and the moisturizer will hydrate and repair.
